Somebody PLEASE help George Michael!!!

I can say straight away that George Michael is my all time favorite singer. I've been a fan since the days when WHAM! was doing songs like "Bad Boys", "WHAM RAP" even before the "Make It Big" CD with "Wake me up"....."Careless Whisper" etc....

I know hes had his troubles with his label, lost a lover, lost his mom...I appreciate that.

Last year he finally brought out a cd in the states with all new music. It was average. George could sing the phonebook and make it sound good buts its the SONGS. no hooks....just ok stuff.

He just put out an online EP with four songs....AGAIN....just ok.....

and we come to yesterday........

Elton John went thru a very dark period in the lates 80s. Just look at a cd of his from around 1990. He looks like SHIT. White hair..bald.....and somehow he turned it around. He came out with "The One" cd....did the "Lion King" and has never looked back.

I guess i'm just venting out of frustration because pop music to me just SUCKS right now.
Maybe because I work in radio, and KNOW the music bix but i can't tell you the last time
I got excited about a CD coming out...

Cmon George.....get clean....get happy and bring us some great music.

Silverware

I've been sick since yesterday but I did enjoy United 4-0 win over Wigan to win the Carling Cup.
There's a stomach bug running thru my house and I've had it for last 24 hours.

Not the most productive weekend but what can you do...

The last SATURDAY in February

Alexa demostrates what went on in my house today:

Virus Blues

My one year old as i mentioned has been fighting a stomach virus (oh..and add an ear infection for good measure). But my wife is a nurse decided it was time for a trip to the E.R. for I.V fluids.

She's doing better as of Saturday......

so...remember when i said it wouldnt snow again once I picked up my new car??

Pictures to come.....

15 again

I'm 15 again.....I have a 15 year old's crush on stacey keibler from "dancing with the stars. It's 1978 again (which was Loni Anderson).

This must be what all 15 boys post in their blogs.....oh my god those legs............

...by the way....anyone remember the show "James
at 15" from the 70's??? With Lance Kerwin.....

..but besides THAT Mrs. Lincoln, How did you enjoy the play????

So HOW was your day?? I had no big to do today. My new new car came into the Toyota dealer (they located it from another dealer in New hampshire). well at least i THOUGHT it was going to be a quiet day...go see the car later in the day....read on:

My four year old is battling a cold..no biggie.....however my one year old is some kind of nasty bug. We had diarrhea and vomiting ALL day.....Thank god i'm married to a nurse.

so what did i do with my thursday.....cleaned up shit and vomit! One of those days where i dont have a rant or a point. I just did my dad/parent thing.

Tommorrow I work in the afternoon..should be fun....Friday afternoon Boston traffic problems....etc

Then an hour later..

Decided i was more tired than cranky.....but Kate's Tony Robbins post got me to thinking about
His "Get the Edge" day one first disc.....

What I'm grateful for:

1. My kids are healthy (will always be number one....if not something is WRONG with me)
2. My wife loves me, is pretty low maintenance and lets me be me. (a challenge for anyone)
3. I have a job I like and don't mind going to.
4. I have both parents
5. I had a happy childhood and wasn't abused.

Those are the five that came to mind on my commute home....

Do me favor...

If you have a child UNDER 13.....Don't let them call radio stations.

It's cute say the FIRST time they call.

By call five for the same song I get cranky.

better still when they try to disguise their voice or;

from the same slumber party, they all call for the same song.

call for the song when the song is playing ON the radio.

REALLY ,I love kids...have two of my own....

why yes...I'm wearing a pair of cranky pants.

The "highlight" of my day was......

...................going to Bloody TARGET......Altho I have observed the best looking soccer moms shop at Target in the middle of the day. Bear in mind I'm traveling with a four year old and a one year old.......needed babyfood a Jenna is addicted to Oatmeal with pears (see i told you my day was dull) and I needed coffee pods for my Senseo Coffee maker (still with me??....zzzz)

-------------------------------------

Pet peeve of da day: People who sit too close to the wheel while driving. move the fucking seat back! Do really want to be THAT close to the airbag when it opens.

------------------------------------

I did get my Jerry Seinfeld tickets for Boston in March today in the mail.......going for my birthday, which if you want to plan ahead is march 11th.

Lonely DVDs

This problem usually multiplies around the holidays. I'm talking about DVD's in your collection that you've never watched. I'm not talking about the one's STILL in shrink wrap, I mean your
entire collection. The TV show box set with 28 episodes from a particular season, of which you've watched two or three.

For example ..I received seasons 4,5,6 over Christmas of "Seinfeld". To date I've watched ONE disc in two months....

I almost created a blog to track my progress of "catching up" but figured perhaps it wasn't THAT important.

next up: songs on ITUNES i've bought but never listened to.......

Ten movies I've seen more than ten times:

In order of the one's that come to mind first.

1. Animal House
2. Jaws
3. Star Wars
4. Rainman
5. Caddyshack
6. Sixteen candles
7. Airplane!
8. Raiders Of The Lost Ark
9. The Blues Brothers
10. The Jerk

ANOTHER sign of middle age...not one of these was made AFTER1990!

Tax time

We usually get a refund. AND we had a baby in the last 12 months AND we moved (closing costs) and yet.....after I install "turbotax" I still get a belly ache.....but i did some premlim work it looks good.

-------------------------------------

I will see my car I ordered on thursday. It's a 2006 black Toyota Matrix with AWD which i should pick this weekend it should be about 85 degrees this weekend (see my prior post on that).

--------------------------------------

Champions League on TV this afteroon....EPSN2 has Real Madrid/Arsenalat 2:45.....weird to cheer for Madrid but I hate Arsenal and I like David Beckham from his days at United.

It's OFFICIAL! Winter is now OVER!!!

I bought a 2006 Toyota Matrix yesterday with AWD. So Naturally I'm looking forward to take it for a spin in the snow (I won't pick it up until later in the week by the way). Which means we'll get nothing! SO break out your shorts.....your favorite SPF and welcome spring......

FA CUP crash and Smiths injury

Liverpool 1-Manchester United -0:

SO Thats bad enough but Smitty and world cup dream OVER:

It's a bad one alright," Sir Alex told MUTV. "It's a break in the leg and the ligaments have gone obviously and the ankle joint has come right out. He's gone to hospital. It's one of the worst I've seen.
"It's a real bad one and we're all thinking of Alan at this moment in time."

.....Fuck me.....I met Alan Smith last summer at United's summer tour and hoped he'd
make an impact with the club. Get well soon......

On to the Carling cup next sunday

Why companies fail

As I wrote a few posts ago I have a subscription to blockbuster online. With my membership i get two in store coupons a month for either a movie or game. The one and ONLY reason i set foot in the store is the coupons. So i take my four old in after school today to pick something out.
I figured it would be a good day to grab one with school vacation next week. I bring our game to the register only to be "greeted" (I use that term loosely) by woman working the register. No "Hi how are you"??....etc..NADA...she goes to look for the game mumbling all the way to cabinet.."I gotta go home...I gotta go home" (bearing in mind the store has been open for two hours and we're the only fucking people in the place). As she checks us out, Alexa says "whats your name?" (she's not shy...). no reply from our Customer service rep....I drive home take the game out of the bag only to find a game for the XBOX (and yes the box we picked from was in the PS2 section). and yes we have a Ps2...so all that way to the store for nothing.....Will I be calling the store....why yes I will....will I speak to the manager? why yes I will. I kept thinking what is this bitch like when the store is busy? If you hate your job SO much that your don't want to spend a minute there....FUCKING quit! If I ever answered my phones at the radio station with the "ya whatta ya want" attitude....I would be out on my ass a LONG time ago.

SO for you The lady at Blockbuster whose name we dont know because you wouldn't tell us....."LIFE IS TOO SHORT!"

WHY conpanies FAIL.......................................

Tuesday, February 14, 2006

..and for you YOUNG broadcasters out there......

.........I work in radio....if you are in a rush between songs and head to the dreaded vending machine to get your 10pm Diet Coke. You WILL battle the machine in that game of:

WILL IT TAKE MY FUCKING DOLLAR!!!! OR SPIT IT BACK OUT MULTIPLE TIMES.

...we now return you to your regualr blogs already in progress....

Geezer alert

While having a Valentines breakfast with my four year old this morning. She asked me about TV when i was her age (4......which would be 1967 if you're playing along at home...). I said at four, when just bought our first color tv.....we had a BLACK AND WHITE one before that. As I explained it to her, her eyes got huge as if she had seen a ghost. Yes I thought the ghost of technology past....Don't get me started when i tryed to explain the concept of only having three channels......

Count on it

Count on it..If you're working out...and you have two kids (in this case 4 and 1) one of the three will happen:

1. The one year will cry or fuss

2. The four year old will need something

3. The phone will ring

Wedding Bell Blues

I have an account with blockbuster.com and I rented the the "Wedding Crashers"...When I opened the envelope...I found "Sin City" inside...returned it checking the appropriate boxes indicating the mistake and for them (blockbuster) to send the movie again. It arrives this morning and i open the package and what do I find? "The wedding Planner"!!. The way i see it blockbuster has wasted 3 dollars (cause i'll be sending this one back too....) so far and I'm going to have them send it again......

Monday with some camera pix

SO its a bright, sunny and cold morning...but my four year olds pre-school was cancelled because the town has a 2 hour delay.....it makes no sense....and amazingly I'm not sore after
shoveling 18 inches of snow last night...thanks nuprin....so i'm posting my first pictures from
my brand new CANON SD IS camera....This thing is sick with features....I've posted a picture of my one year old Jenna and some snow pix......tell me what you think:

New Camera this weekend.

I bought a digital camera "way" back in 2001 right before Alexa was born. 2.2 Megapixel was good for "those" days. BUT it time to upgrade. This is the one I've settled on:

it's a Canon...thanks to www.chicagosheri.blogspot.com for the tip.

Quickie Thursday night United post

..Since the title of my blog includes my beloved United....I should give them SOME blog time.....
(ROONEY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>)

VERY quiet week....no mid-week matches and nothing til' Saturday against Portsmouth AT Pompey. This is one of the matches if United get behind, they have problems and Portsmouth and Harry Redknapp always play us tough. Rooney is due for big goal.

Grammy Observations

1. Madonna looks great..is lip-ing it and dancing with guys who weren't born when "Borderline" and "Lucky Star" were hits.
2. Marcia Cross looks beyond HOT (sidebar1: to the 7-up commercial)
3. Interesting seg from John Legend to Sugarland.
4. U2 and Mary J. Blige do not mix well......
5. 42 white guys like me don't predict "Best Rap" album.
6. I have a soft spot for PAUL MCCARTNEY..even tho his new cd is overrated and I haven't really liked one of new cds since "Back to the egg". "Band On The Run" was the first album I ever bought in 1974 and still know it back to front.
7. (side bar2)--Beatlemania begins 42 years ago this week.
8. Thank you KEITH URBAN for making country music look good.
9. I Don't think SLY of SLY and FAMILY STONE consulted ELVIS's people on making a proper comeback. WHAT was that? The TERMINATOR meets the lead singer from "FLOCK OF SEAGULLS?"
10. My sister likes SPRINGSTEEN more than me.....but I do like his stuff
11. Love U2..but "Sometimes you can't make it" was not the best song of the year.
12. Again 'cause I'm over 40..don't quite get the KANYE WEST thing.....but I like "GOLDDIGGER"...
13. Thank you Sheryl Crow for the view of your sternum.
14. Green Day deserved record of the year.
15. J0hn Legend was a good choice for new artist...although i've met Sugarland.
16. U2 for the album of the year....But didnt it seem like it was released about five years ago?.

Diet Pit Crew

So my old friend Jim comes to see the new house and i've had the following:

Bagel and Veggie cream cheese for breakfast

Whopper meal for lunch...

(insert sfx of horrific car wreck)

The crew will now be trying to salvage the shreds that remain of my good intentions

....see you on the track tomorrow........

Aging or tired

Thats happens to me quite often.....I make a peanut butter sandwich...go to put the peanut butter in the fridge....instead of the cabinet.....go to heat the baby's bottle, open the cabinet instead of the microwave.....

...good morning brain....

Grass is always Greener theory

After posting and reading blogs for the last couple of weeks I've come to this un-exciting conclusion. Other peoples lives (for the most part) arent any more exciting than yours. If you're married, you're probably going thru the same problems. Kids? got them....going thru
the challenges at EACH age. Don't let anyone convince you that the "terrible twos" are any better of worse than 3 or 4. Its getting something out of the ordinary....

Thats a challenge for me. I have my two kids all day while my wife works and then i go to
work at night. Fortunately I have a job i enjoy and most of the time I like doing my thing.
Even the one hour commute into Boston traffic for the most part doesn't phase me. Some nights the ride home can be a grind.

Just surf a few blogs to pick up what i'm driving at....read about people or better yet, walk around the mall or your local supermarket at look at your fellow man. See the guy whos entire days revolves around scratch tickets. In my job, I talk to the public all night and you'd be amazed at how "routine" most peoples lives are.

I saw a segment this morning on the "Today" show about a family from Chicago who moved to Tuscany. I started thinking "could i do this??". maybe move overseas, adopt a new language
a new culture, be that far from family. It did sound very glamourous and romantic but WOULD I have the stones to do it. Bring up my kids outside the USA....When i was 18, I went to school in Arizona.....it was a big move from Massachusetts to go that far to school but loved it. But I wonder at 42....would i have the guts to do something like that again......

Another thing from my younger days SUCKS

I dont watch Saturday Night Live like I used to. When i was in junior high and especially in high school, the show was big among myself and my friends. We would re-enact skits, worship in a high school kind of way the characters....the coneheads, Samuri from Belushi etc etc. So when i saw Steve Martin was hosting, I thought it would be a good show to TIVO. I don't think i've seen the show this season. I was hoping they might give a "nod" to the good ol' days. What we got was shit, crap all rolled into one. It was painful to watch. The skits are so unfunny I didnt make to 12:15. The old "Not ready For Prime Time Players" seemed larger than life to me, but than again so did the MTV VJ's when MTV signed on and I know one of their VJs well so there goes that theory. www.damienfahey.com . Maybe things just seemed funnier when i was younger, but i think in this case, its got nothing to do with nostaglia, but everything to do with quality.

Quick fitness update

managed to get some treadmill time in this morning:

30min.....2.05 miles....little bit better...still had to rest at 20 minutes but better than last week.

Superbowl weekend

From United: all good.....altho It didn't seem like a 4-2 win over Fulham. Backline is still edgy but i'll take the 3 points. Most amazingly..I was forced to cheer for Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge against Liverpool. There is no doubt that Chelsea have the title race won. They're 15 points clear of United so the race is for second for that automatic qualification into the group stage of next seasons Champions League. www.uefa.com.

Superbowl sunday I spent more doing things around the house. It's been two months since we moved in and some parts of the house still have the "just moved in look". Rachel and Alexa headed off to New Hampshire to watch the game and let Alexa play with Karin. So Jenna and I got to get in some hanging time.

I ran a bit on Saturday and while my breathing felt a bit labored, My legs seemed exceptionally tight to the point of a tight hamstring so i shut it down. I did a call from Wayne who ran my soccer club the last two seasons, to see if i needed some help in finding another team. Let the phone tag begin. Hopefully i can get some cardio in this morning on the treadmill while Alexa is in school. Also I will be starting a quest to get a new car....My Saturn has 150,000 miles on it and is a ticking time bomb. The favorite is a Toyota Matrix

People in and out of your life

This is something that has ALWAYS fascinated me. Whether its a relationship or school or work...I'm fascinated about how people come and go out of your life. I still wonder what became of people I went to school with. Not just the "inner" circle of my group of friends. How about your ex? their family, brothers and sisters, moms and dads. I just touched base with a friend of mine from my fraternity that i had NOT talked to since I graduated from college in 1986. He posted some photos from a spring break trip that i never seen. Seeing myself 20 years ago was like that moment your forsee when they say "your life passed before your eyes". Yesterday i was driving my four year old to preschool with the one year old in the other seat. A song came on from a time when i was dating an old girlfriend. An old girlfriend who I was engaged to ( to which a completely new post it would take to tell the story). But i was watching the two (my kids and the old song) clash thru my mental time machine. It was amazing to me at that moment to realize how much had changed in my life. The directions i had taken and where she ended up (divorced). How bout' people you've worked with everyday and changed jobs and lost track of them. As i gotten older, i've realized just HOW hard it is when you get married and have kids to maintain relationships. There are a couple of guys i used to work with and go to school with who i used to see everyday that have evaporated to me. I've tried to track them down with out an ounce of success. It's kind of sad. Life REALLY does move fast.

Full Moon Over Wednesday

So it was one of "THOSE" nights for Manchester United. Weird bounces off spot kicks, Hand balls in the box, unexplainable back passes and Rio getting sent off. Not as bad as the 'Boro game where they just got smoked but it did show a backline that was shaky. Still not sold on Evra, he seems tentative at best. Heinze get well for next season! Blackburn 4 United 3. As we remain second in the table. Fulham at noon on Saturday and the game of the weekend is sunday between Chelsea and Liverpool. Give the current standings, I may (stop gag reflex now) have to cheer for Chelsea.

New month, new workout update

I like February better than january. Its a shorter month. I get a long weekend. Baseball spring training begins. BUT February can be a major pain in the ass with snow. The Blizzard of 78' was in February. The big snow was over Presidents day weekend a couple of years ago.

Today was picture day at school for Alexa. She was sick last year and looked like crap. So with her at school and after beating a screaming sinus headache I did get some running in on the treadmill. I did just under 2 miles in 30 minutes. Certainly not where i was last summer but its a start. I trying to alternate CORE work one day, www.coreperformance.com and cardio the other. Outdoor soccer (finding a new team notwithstanding) starts in about 2 months and goal one is to be 20 pounds later than i was on valentines day last year. To acheive that i need to lost about 5 or 6 pounds in the next two weeks.

United plays today but isnt on www.foxsoccer.com til five so i will have to watch the game tonight. Blackburn away.....I am sick of seeing that team.
