I was in the basement over the weekend. The clutter from the holidays had completely over run everything...So when i had some time this past weekend....I decided to DE-clutter. Area one was near the DVDS. This area had become over run with bins of random toys brought into the basement as a Toy-holding pen....a toxic toy dump to get them out of the way for the holidays.

Of course they remained there well into January.

So to keep me entertained, I grabbed one of a few movies i've purchased over the last year but never watched...."The Sure Thing"

Still like the movie and and planning to listen to the commentary...But it struck me that John Cusack character had that same "feel" as he did in "Say Anything" wisecracking, a slightly left of center kid....Of course what stood out to me was....A pre-ER Anthony Edwards with hair (the hair can be seen in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"..a pre-Desperate Housewives Nicolette Sheridan....and a pre-Susan Saradon (or maybe not) Tim Robbins in a small role. It does strike me that certain movies from the 80's scream 80s and this one certainly does. I'm also noticing that it is getting harder for me to tell the difference between 80s movies with John and 80s movies with Matthew Broderick. Insert Cusack into the "War Games" main character....

See? no problem.

Three Years ago this week

Three years ago this week i started this blog....looking back, there are plenty of spurts of many posts and more recently, very few. In my last post in November, I was blaming "FACEBOOK" which is true.... so i decided the only way to revive this log was to schedule it in my Blackberry calender....everyday...I have to do it to remember my vitamins...so i'll do it for my blog posts.

I'd love to say i'll catch up with pics....but we will see. I think a new laptop is going to be needed...the drive on this one is maxxxxxed.

SO its the dead of winter....snows coming this week...much like it was on day one of this blog...and my feeling as i pulled in the driveway this morning was that winter was never going to end.

Workouts are going good...Rachel and I are doing the latest teambeachbody.com workout ChaLEAN extreme....i'm in week 7 of the 16 i'm planning. Alexa is in school and Jenna is hanging out watching the kids latest obsession, "Sponge Bob"....ya I know i'm bad parent. Cant believe Jenna will be four on Wednesday....

Time's flying.....thanksgiving is next week....I'm working part of the day....the money is too easy to pass up....In fact i have three weekend shifts over the next month which i can't say no to since the money is too easy and can allow us to avoid the dreaded racking up of the credit card....

Can someone explain to me the physics behind the law that says "thou shall put your ear buds in pocket will have them come out of pocket with at least four tangles or knots..."

If you're not watching "30 Rock" or "The Big bang Theory"you're missing out....As a former sci-fi geek, "theory" makes me laugh out loud and any sitcom that debates the Star trek Movies AND throws George Lucas under the bus in the SAME episode is good by me.

The only available plug in this starbucks has me sitting in the blazing sun thru the windows, roasting....squinting and probably getting a nice Rcihard Dreyfuss "Close Encounters" tan.

"The Power Of Now" is a pretty good book.

Do you think if the media would STOP telling us how bad the economy is....we all might actually get out there and spend.????

...........Just sitting here watching the end of the Red sox season. ...As I was getting ready for work today i started thinking "Where have all my socks gone?" Under the bed? eaten by the dryer. I seem to be on a sock turd hunt everyday.....Sign of the times with me: The big holiday movie season is coming and i can't tell you the name of one single movie thats due. The Indiana Jones movie from this summer is out on DVD. I guess i won't be seeing it on the big screen...I'm wondering if i'm the only person in america watching "Friday Night Lights" on Direct Tvs channel.....Here's my sequence watching the "Biggest Loser" this season: skip to the "last chance workout" to see what workouts they're doing; weigh in; see who gets booted; transformation moment; preview of next week ; delete! TOTAL time for two hour show with this method: aprrox ten minutes.....more sign of the times, I'm starting each morning flipping on "Fox Business" channel.....just to see where oil is at...Hershey has PUMPKIN SPICE kisses for Halloween...oh back to oil.....hopefully my next fill will be under $500. I can't seem to get enough of those Dunkin Donuts egg white flatbreads.....I'm very happy those annoying world cup qualifers will now stop interupting the English Premier league season and i can finally see Manchester United play on a regular basis...11 outs left for the sox, but i'll be back when spring training starts. Britany has the number one single on itunes and i'm wondering in this economy, WHY??????. 10 outs...........click on my february 2006 and see how excited i was buying my new car...Oct 08', that car now has 87,000 miles on it....drive MUCH? Halloween is full of ghost stories and the 2008 Boston Red Sox are the modern version of Michael Myers. When it was 7-0, Tampa Bay was Dr. Sam Loomis shooting the gun watching Myers fall out the window...and yes the Tampa Bay bullpen IS finding out the answer to the question "Was that the boogie man?" only to find out...."yes I believe it was.........."

Do you ever see a picture or video of yourself and sometimes you remember your thoughts of the day, then there are others where you see it but dont remember much....I just saw a couple of pictures of myself from 16 years ago on vacation. Besides the fact that could not believe how BIG my glasses were and how NEON my shirts were....I remember the week really well. Nothing significant about the week....but i remember the stops along the way, the things i did, the little particualars....it just struck me the amazingly fast passage of time...how a decade and half can go by in a snap of your fingers....

One of my favorite guilty pleasures in the 70's was "Heaven Can Wait" with Warren Beatty. Beatty plays a guy who dies before his time and Buck Henry must bring him back to earth and find him a new body until its "really" time for him to go to heaven.

Not to give the whole movie away but Beatty wants to go back to playing pro football for the LA Rams...so theres a scene where the Rams QB dies on the field and and the guys body will be taken over by Beatty. So in the Scene you see the player get badly hurt on the field only to suddenly bolt up and be fine (once Beatty character takes over his body)....and now Beatty can play football again....

THAT'S what i was waiting for yesterday when Tom Brady went down.....

Let's just hope Matt Cassell has a little "Joe Pendleton" in him......

yes...I'm off this week....Where we going? The Cape? New Hampshire? Maine? uhhhhh nope....
How bout' the basement and the driveway.........

Its a massive cleanup vacation.......uh.......vacation....

The big rolloff dumpster is in the driveway and we're cleaning out the two storage areas we have...Its amazing the clutter we've piled up in the last three years (yes its almost been that long). Summer is winding down and with the kids going back to school in the next two weeks (yes KIDS...Jenna starts pre-school...), so we figured it would be a good time to tackle the project and the weather has been perfect for schlepping dusty dirty boxes to the dumpster.....

We finally ordered furniture for the living room (did i mention it's been three years..). It will be here next Friday...so we may have a "hey we finally got some damm furniture for the living room labor day BBQ"

Finished MAD MEN season one....feel like i need a glass of scotch and a LUCKY STRIKE...Season two is ready on the DVR

Played indoor soccer last night and Rachel and I ran three miles tonight and then trashed any calorie burn with a dinner at "Red Robin" consisting of Beer, Burgers, Fries and Ice Cream from Cold Stone....As Rachel put it "Eating like this....makes me not want to eat like this...."

I say to myself everyday.....damm i gotta update the blog and then forget......so today i remembered....so over the weekend i actually SAW two movies.........TWO!..on two different nights....saturday night we went to the Mendon Drive in to see WALL-E which we thought would be good for the kids. The new Batman movie is playing on the other screen so we figure we better leave early...we do...get there about 2 hours before showtime....since it hasn't rained since april (ok outside of a thunderstorm)...its seems like months....the drive in looks like something out of the Oklahoma dust bowl.........have expect to see Jimmy Stewart from the set of "The Grapes of Wrath"...so we play badminton soccer...anything else to kill the time....head to the snack bar where without exaggeration must have been over 100 degrees...signs noting if you want UN-melted chocolate they have some in the freezer...you know the drill...french fries in a cup....and the multiple "I have to go to the bathroom" pleas....anyway...the movie was ok...a bit overrated but NOT for three year olds...Lets just say Jenna was a wee bit fidgety.....now on to the Batman.....

I like most of the USA saw it over the weekend...Heath Ledger is as good as advertised...i'm amazed at the assault on my senses during the previews...every movie seem to be a sci fi, comic book or adapted from a graphic novel. FUCKING loud doesnt describe it.....every movie seems to have a soundtrack (Insert your favorite active rock here) that all sound the same. I can't tell you how many times i see trailers for movies that i just stare back at the screen and go "Who the fuck wants to see THAT?" This new Keven Costner movie about politcs will be a BOMB...back i'm drifting away from "Batman"

The Michael Keaton Batman came out 19 summers ago. I saw it on day one....I went Bat-crazy..got into the old show again....started buying comics again...and remember thinking how GREAT jack Nicholson was as the "Joker"....I've seen the movie in parts of the last few months and it doesnt hold up that well but what REALLY doenst hold up is JACK....his Joker doesnt ooze crazy like Ledgers does.....sorry jack you've become a third rate joker (so to speak.....)

For me and sports this has been one hell of a decade.....The 1900's NOT so much.
From the year i was born (1963) to 1999, The Bruins won two Standley Cups.....but it was 1970 (don't remember at all) and 1972 and vaguely remember the playoffs. I know i watched a lot of games thru snowy TV 38 and IDOLIZED Bobby Orr. Outside of the Celts success in the 70's and the 80's where the playoffs were an annual part of my spring drives home from college in Arizona. The Pats outside of their one run to the Super Bowl in 86' were awful and the Sox....well no since going over the 86 year thing....which brings us to the 2000's......................:

I was amazed as i watched the Celtics as to how FAR i had strayed from the game. How LITTLE i know about the big names in the NBA....but i found as the rounds fell away, that my old attachment to the team returned. I was giggling and almost tearing up last night watching Ray Allen hit three after three. As i said to my father, it made me want to go home and shoot jump shots in my driveway, AND it brought me back to the game. banner number 17...

Like i said....for me and sports....It's been a pretty good decade so far...One that still has 18 months left.....

Certainly been a lean month for posts.....Last week was a total blur after a nasty bout with the stomach flu...Out of work weds, thurs and not really back on my feet til saturday. On Saturday I did get to see an old college friend Pat Coelho...Nice to see someone after 20 years, where his oldest kid is ALMOST as old as we were when we met when we were freshman. In other news:

I love being behind old folks at the grocery store....they pay in CASH! How come now when i get my receipt at the grocery store its a fucking mile long? They have to break it down into categories and we also get the ream of coupons that goes with the shit we just bought....

Time to put the A/C s in the windows this weekend. I think we're tired of waking up stewing in our own juices. So its the annual put a new gouge into the woodwork....

I didnt watch the "Bachelor" this season....In fact I havent watched it in many seasons....but i did catch the opener and by chance i saw the "finale".....So after a season (or was it two...) when the bachelor didnt pick ANYONE....but the ending of this one was so over the top cheesy....insincere....contrived....it was laughable.....BLONDE actress wins guy with gushings of "oh Matt"...it reminded me of community theatre.....

I think Hillary is sticking around....

Krista beat me to the punch on the post on her blog.....but i still wanted to vent. I DID watch the entire season. I grew massively tired of the "Boys DO Cry" club....I couldn't bear another week of Mark and he scrunching beard face. I admire him for losing the weight altho he looks like his muscle mass aint were it should be......He has the look that i did ten years ago when i did Atkins and put it back on wayyyyy to quick. Yes i was happy that Roger made the top three....Did you buy Paul was "too sick" to attend? How bout' the boy didnt lose or maybe even gained weight since he went home.
All in all I thought Curtis and his wife and the two who didnt know each other looked the best...I just had memory moment with their names...

So they build up the show to this "Will we get the first FEMALE biggest loser??"....the final three weigh ins dont START until 9:45....and they milk it...and milk it....Ali didnt step on the scale until 9:58:30......Shes wins...confetti....Alison says goodnight...credits...What the FUCK? Wheres Ali and betty sues hug....where do we see her glasses break...Wheres Jillians vindication moment...Wheres the girl power moment? How bout a shot of Alis family watching the show "live via satelite"? Can't they pace this show differently? maybe a little fucking less RECAP moments??? I dont need see for the 10th time the group in a relay race on day two.....etc....It reminds of when i play RPG video games and i'd play it and play it and you'd defeat the final boss and you'd get no celebration...just the credits and then a REALLY long list
of Japanese game developers.....One more thing....Ali looks great but ya can't fix ugly.....

The decline and FALL of a movie lover

My movie watching and to a lesser extent, movie going, have declined like a bad week in the stock market. At one time i WORKED at a theatre, had to WORK to find a movie that I had not seen. In my "heyday" as a movie renter in the early and mid 90's, I kept Blockbuster in Business. It was part of my friday routine to pick up a movie or two.....It should be noted that i am NOT married to a movie lover but that is only part of the issue. I have access to Blockbuster's version of Netflix and find that i use more for the kids than myself. I can even take my movies TO Blockbuster and exchange them for MORE movies....Last Saturday i wandered thru all the new releases, most I had not seen and NOTHING jumped out to me. It wasn't a hard fought battle basically starting with the "A"s and to the end....and back to see if i missed something. I didn't.
This weekend there is four days of FREE STARZ...the movie channel....I scrolled thru program guide hoping to see something to DVR....What did i come up with? "Platoon". A 20 year old movie.....

SAD..........

I lose my keys at least once a day...just thought i would note that....anyway....I was looking at my keys last night and noticed among my "collection".....Car key, house key, parents house key and asst. nick knacks on the ring...I have a small key. Now when i started working at my current job, they gave me a key for a locker....but i lost it early on (that was 8 years ago). It looks like a desk key....The only other desk i can think of, is the desk i had in Springfield but i NEVER locked it...the main middle drawer was always out of line, and if i pulled it out with too much force, I was lucky not to lose a few teeth.

That means I've carrying this key on my person, for 15 years...now if only it had some useful function..perhaps a keys locater.......

Wouldn't you like to kill the asshole who invented the technology for the box you have write letters and numbers to sign into certain web sites? Like when you go to ticketmaster.....and the box comes up and you can't motherfucking read it.

Alexa is off tomorrow so (weather permitting)...we're off to the park...I was thinking of breaking out my old rollerblades (dont do it keith). I can flush a winters worth of working out for soccer with one tumble.

The Biggest Loser

If you track back, You know i'm a fan of the "Biggest Loser" but they have to change the formula.....Each show goes like this:

1. Reaction to last weeks elimination....lamenting the loss of a team player...tears....

2. A challenge (something i fast forward thru)

3. If no challenge, some game to use at the weigh in.

4. The last chance workout

5. The Battan death march to the weigh in.

6. Someone will say they are nervous...or "this is their week to go home"

7. One or two weigh ins...that cut away with reaction shots that EVERYONE WATCHING knows by now will NOT match their actual weigh ins numbers.

8. Someone will mention they thought "They'd pull a bigger number"

9. Bob or Jillian will look miffed.

10.Back room bargaining on who will get axed.

11.An elimination that always seems to come down to the final vote....after of course we get the blurred lifting of the tray cover.

12.The eliminated players family will have a party.

13.The eliminated player will ask for their families for help on their journey.

14.The eliminated player will be shown working out away from the ranch.

15.The eliminated player will be shown holding up some old pants.

16.We will be told that next weeks "biggest loser" will have the most dramatic weigh in biggest loser history.

...Just looked up and realize i hadnt written in the blog for two weeks....Been trying to start up a new music blog about pop music.....address coming soon....

Just finished vacation with no causalties.......uneventful....finally picked up an external hard drive
to back up all the music and pics.....now i dont have to live on pins and needles if this lapstop shits the bed.

Watched the Academy Awards last night....I'm sure its the only time in my life i had not seen a single film. Granted most of the big winners were not mainstream, but even the smaller winners, "Juno"..."Bourne etc"....still hadnt seen any of them....but i did get to sit thru "Anger Management" thanks a suggestion by a co-worker of Rachels'.

I knew it sucked before the menu cued up....Don't like Adam Sandler (except his holidays songs..."love to eat turkey...") and Jack Nicholson hasnt been in anything i've liked since "Batman" and THAT movie is looking more and more dated. "Few Good Men" maybe?
I love a movie where u know exactly whats coming...cookie cutter slapstick...scenes you know are coming.....a bar room fight...people yelling at each other...its one of those movies where the box says 106 minutes and you say ,as its playing "that has to been wrong". It feels like hours and hours...About 30 minutes in i went back to PLAYLIST making with my Ipod.

Moral to the story...>If your co-workers says its "funniest movie they've ever seen"..."you just gotta see it"...check your source....

--Watched some of the Grammies the other night....tells you all you need to know about the state of the music industry when Herbie Hancock wins Album of the year. I know hes repected in the industry, but everytime i think of him, i see that "Rock it" video from the 80s.
--Its sad when the Foo Fighters are the biggest rock name i saw...
--read the Britany cover story in "Rolling Stone" just sad....
--Alexa was watching and said "Whos PRINCE"? Probably a little young to sit thru "Purple Rain"....what was that follow up? "Under a Cherry Moon"?

Personal Trainer boy

I spent the weekend at the Commonwealth Sports Club in Boston for a workshop to further my goal of becoming a personal trainer. It ran sat and sun, all day.....a serious amount of info to process.

Now people that ask me , so you took the workshop...are you a personal trainer? The answer is no. The instructor noted that the course i'm taking is taught in college as a full semester course.
I received the course about 3 weeks ago which means i have a ways to go. I study at my own pace, NCSF (whom i'm taking the course thru), has online and telephone tech support and when i'm ready i can take the certification exam. So why not just give it a shot a take the exam for shits and giggles? $200 bucks to take it and if i fail, every retry is $100.

Like i said..there is no deadline for me....I'm shooting for early summer. But the way radio is....maybe i should get reading.

I dedicate this post to the me who will go back and re-read this post this summer. It's the morning after, and I know that on summer night night this August, I will base an evening on the first Patriot pre-season game. It will be Mid-summer, Alexa will soon be in the second grade, Jenna will just about ready for pre-school.....Am I looking for to this game today? Not really.

I remember driving home from work in October 2003. It was an hour or so after Aaron Boone's homerun had floated into the New York night. Rachel and I spent a few hours listening to the autopsy on sports radio and I remember thinking ,"How can I possibly get up for next year?"...starting over....spring training....opening day....playoffs....to get back....but you know what? I did. Obviously we know what happened to the sox in 04'

The draft will come....some players will go....someone surprising will come....and little by little we'll be in the mood for football....I know its tough to believe this morning....Before the Giants received their trophy, I had taken a knife to the superbowl balloons and the Slider glass door Pats artwork was obliterated in a hail of windex and papertowels.

Funny this morning tho....Went out for papers and coffee and didnt see a single pats hat or coat.

My thoughts on the game:

1. I wasn't nervous until I saw Brady on the field and suddenly needed an ativan....
2. What happens if the Pats got the ball first?
3. Brady wasn't throwing right again last night. Ankle? Shoulder?
4. Its weird to expect to win and then NOT win is now weird, after living thru Bucky, Buckner, Boone etc.
5. If the Pats DO make it to Superbowl 43, and win it, it will be four years between wins. Can a team going almost half a decade between championships be called a dynasty.
6. What ARE the odds a team who went to the AFC championship last year and the superbowl this year, isnt due for a stinker....ya know a 8-8 season.
7. If number 6 happens, maybe i can find a couple of tickets.
8. Funny how a sporting event can really play a role in your mood the following day..
9. Spygate took a little bit of the edge off this season.
10. might need a break from sports talk for a week....

oh...one last thing....wonder if we'll have to endure "18 and one" chants from Yankees fans this season....

I've been on an Ipod rampage since i got my IPOD TOUCH.....been going playlist crazy and decided to see if i could narrow down my top 100 favorite songs....Its not as easy as it sounds.
I found that there were songs that i loved at ONE time but not anymore or was just plain tired of. Not surprisingly most of them are from 1974-1990. You tend to bond with music during your school years. ALso not surpisingly there many cheesy songs in the group....again not a shock.....in fact most peoples music collection usually contain a Manilow, an ABBA or an Air Supply....or my favorite Ambrosia.

So in one of my very early posts, i was complaining that i can't understand why George Michael can't write a great pop song...so along comes the new show with some buzz on ABC "Eli Stone" where the main character swears he sees George Michael. Each Episode will be named after a George or WHAM! song. This could be a problem if this show airs for many years....Georges output to put it nicely, has been sporadic at best. Once you get by the Wham! hits and the "Faith" cd, most of the rest will just be titles to most people.

Will be curious to know how they will work "John and Elvis are dead" into a plot title from
Georges last cd.

The Scary thing about Sam The Butcher...

Allan Melvin, the guy who played Sam The Butcher on the "Brady Bunch" died in the last week.
SO why is this scary to me?

When I watched this show as a kid, I thought of Mr. Brady as being "old" because he was a parent. As a kid, I remember anyone over 16 as old. But Mr. Brady had a cool job , he took the kids on great trips, even if they were "business" related....The Grand Canyon, Kings Island (damm those plans) and of course the mother of all their trips....Hawaii. Vincent Price, cursed Island Idols...crazy natives telling them, "My father say never go there, I never go...." Spiders in their hotel room...wow.....

and then there was SAM......

He wanted to date Alice...who by the way, was never age identified. I think my kid brain put her somewhere between 30-65....but Sam was the never been married bachelor. He seemed old,
un-hip, square....the kind of guy desperate to find someone late in life. And by the way, WHO owns a meat locker with no way out? I'll bet many a butcher shop safety protocol was re-written after that episode aired.

WHY am i scared....? BECAUSE ALLAN Melvin died at 84 years old....which means he was 44
during that first season.....

I'm starting to equate New years resolutions with christmas shopping on black friday and the whole holiday shopping thing in general. How many ads did i see yesterday from "Fiber One", "Slim Fast", "Special K", "Bally's" about losing weight as YOUR new years resolution.....we're becoming a nation of programmed cattle.....mooing our way thru the calender year. Valentines is next....What are the odds those chocolates and cards will be on the "Hallmark" shelves by this weekend?....right next to the closeout wrapping paper and the 90% off candy canes. There IS a reason mothers and fathers day happen in the spring ya know. To fill the gap after the easter candy goes away....but before the halloween candy hits..usually the last week of August. Hell I'm guility....I blogged that i bought a Halloween candle in August....

WOW...and i thought i didnt blog much last December!..Holy crap. Christmas pics to come. I meant to do them today but i spent much of the "day after" watching soccer. United beat Sunderland 4-0..thanks for asking. I spent the majority of the day playing and adding to my Ipod Touch.

I managed to workout thru the holiday but the way i'm eating, progress probably aint in the works this week. I'm starting my fourth week of P90X...this is a recovery week but its still

I picked up the new Duran Duran CD "Red Carpet Massacre" today. I already like it better than "Astronaut" which i thought was weak outside of "Reach up for the Sunrise" a fav of Alexa's at the time.
I would have to peg Duran as my alltime fav band. The Beatles are up there, but i didnt grow up with the Beatles. One "A" might be "Queen". Its a tough call but Queen is tough to pick since Freddies death in 91'. But if i had to rank some of fav albums...they'd be all over the place...."Queen II"....black side only (if you're a Queen fan you get the black thing)...."The Game" from 80....with "Crazy Little thing", "another one bites the dust"..."Day at the races"/"Night at the Opera"...All in my best of.....oddly i have them only on vinyl. Back to Duran Duran....

I was playing Duran in college...Their second album was the one that became big...and their first came out shortly after to capitalize (I actually like it better.....VERY new wave). I've heard "Rio" and "Hungry Like the Wolf" way too many times...."Seven and the Ragged Tiger" is a fav....I bought it first day....It was at the height of Druan mania....thought "Arena" sucked dick. Heres a live album missing what???????? Most of the crowd sounds.....You have this amazing pop culture moment and they fucked it up. Imagine Ed Sullivan saying "Ladies and Gentlemen...."The Beatles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" with NO screaming! Like the splinter groups "Power Station" and "Arcadia"..."Some Like it Hot" and "Get it on" are still two of my fav songs.
"Notorious" was ok....as was "Big Thing" in 88'.....anyone remember "Liberty" in 1990. Just awful...........
I loved "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone" from the "wedding Album"....which oddly i dont' own but have the tracks from the greatest hits cd.....The rest of the 90s stuff was shit....I think at one point it was just Simon and Nick. The new CD will give you bass a test. Its not a one listen cd....You can hear a lot of Nicks touches all over the place thru non stop back beat....There a couple of exceptions from the rhythm feel.....but there are some steller tracks to run to.

Peppermint Mocha from "Starbucks".....Dunkins has their holiday cups out , bought the "Christmas Carol" special edition (2 disc special edition with Alastir Sim)....probably the 4th or 5th time i've purchased this movie over time.....and Alexa watched the "The Santa Clause" last night.....

The NEW era of Christmas

How do you like the new era of xmas? Halloween candy in an aisle next to the xmas decorations. The early christmas era is an exploding phenomenon. I know the retailors are panicked about the economy but things are changin'. XM radio has had their HOLLY channel for at least a week now. Terrestial radio stations will be flipping anyday now. We're playing commercials talking about xmas sales. Halloween was LAST WEEK! It used to be a joke about things starting early....but it used to be in just a few spots....a yankee candle (who had their halloween candles out in mid august...i know...i bought em....)...a Hallmark store. Can you handle 7 weeks of this? It seems like just a few years ago, we in radio wouldnt touch an xmas song til the day AFTER thanksgiving....play them thru the weekend and then actually back off!
I like the holidays thanks to the kids...It fends off the bleakness of the jan-March black hole....
it seems like its already at a different level....this by the way with an EARLY thanksgiving, the retailors die for.....

As Santa is hopefully building my 16gb IPOD touch, I'm going to try to organize my Itunes library. This sounds easier than it is. I have somewhere around 3500 songs or so. I also want to
put together a list of my one hundred favorite songs...NOW thats going to be hard. I thought..Do i HAVE those one hundred in my collection? Maybe they're on a LP that i never bought the CD when it came out.....I'm bound to forget something....Whats my criteria? Answer? I ain't got one.
But in prepartation, I did one write about some of the artists that i love and why.

Paul McCartney--"Band On The Run" was the first album i ever bought as a music fan. I have to note that b/c I did buy the original"Partridge Family" album. I actually like most of the stuff on that album to this day. Oh if you don't like cheezy music posts....STOP reading....you wont't be album to stomach the Air Supply, Ambrosia, Spandau Ballet etc...posts.

I know every song on the disc....I have the 45s (whats that?). I played it so much the sleeve started to rip. Uneventful weekend.....I ran saturday, played NINETY minutes of soccer yesterday (we had lots of folks working, injured etc..) and I strength trained today. A bit too much....

Watched Ken Burns first episode of "The War" last night....every high school history class should be made to view this series...."How I met your mother" was a "B" for its premiere and I did laugh at times at "The Big Bang Theory".

Seems odd that it will be 90 plus this week...

I just saw Rob Zombies remake or re-do of "Halloween". The movie wasn't bad...violent beyond reason. I liked the backstory of Michael Myers..Once he gets to the institution it starts to slide downhill and by the time you get to Haddonfield it had gone on too long. Its like they had to compress the original "Halloween" into the last third of the film. I didn't really care about the characters who got wacked. The film as a whole was ok....

buts thats NOT the reason i'm posting....

Maybe i'm getting old but why doenst the sound have to be so mother fucking LOUD!???. I love a great sound system, but do they have to have the sound at warp 30? I'm watching the previews (think there were 6 of them) and everyone had, trucks exploding, serpents coming out of the sea, people screaming etc..etc...and then during the actual film (where by the way i had the WHOLE place to myself.....3:45 on a monday afternoon). Speaking of the movie, outside of the woman who tore my ticket, I didnt interact with another human being the ENTIRE time i was at the theatre. I bought my ticket at the self service kiosk...bought nothing at the consession stand ( i WAS tempted by the giant bag of Twizzlers but said no....). Sat alone.....never saw an usher..and walked out.

Made me realize why so many of us just wait for the DVD.....at least i can FF thru the previews and control the mother fucking volume.....

The Wonder Years is on the ION channel twice a night now. Absolutely one of my favorite shows ever and for some reason i have a bond with. I'm frantically DVRing the show every night and burning as many episodes as i can to DVD. This is a god awful time consuming process to cut out the commercials. I'm worried that whatever century the real dvds come out, they will "KRP" em. Meaning they will replace the music. WKRP can survice w/o the music. I was watching the episode where Winnie dumps Kevin at the Musuem.."Kevin....I've met someone"...and "God only knows" from the Beach Boys comes on. HOw can you replace that? Another one i saw ends with kevin and winnie talking and the show ends with this wonderful song "seasons" from Elton John (on one of his remaster cds..). Cut it out and the scene aint the same....

Many, many posts ago, I talked having DVDs piling up. For the first time in a long time, I'm plowing thru two sets in two completely different ways:

WKRP--season one....much has been made of the music changes. Honestly i'm not missing them. These first season episodes are like listening to a favorite album i know every lyric or in this case line to. Just sad i'm already on the third and final disc.

Twin Peaks--season two..I'm moving thru this set in a much different way. When i get home from work on friday night, I crack a beer and watch just one episode. I've probably only seen the second season once and that was during the time it aired.......and that time period of my life was a bit of a blur so for me its almost like watching it for the first time.

Happy Days --season two--not enjoying this one as much as season one. Another one with massive music changes.....ths show seems a little dated to me....but still a favorite show.

The Odd Couple--Season one--Its odd to me that Paramount gave MUCH better treatment to this series than they have with some of their 70s franchises such as Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley and Mork and Mindy. Only been thru a couple of episodes and don't know the show as well as the ones above. As a kid it was the "late" friday night show airing at 9:30....
